Madison Braman is the first female from Section II to play in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Golf Championship since Dottie Pepper did it in 1983.

Dottie Pepper was the last female from Section II to play in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Golf Championship.

That was back in 1983, and the Saratoga Springs native went on to have an excellent career in the LPGA.

That 33-year drought, though, came to an end Saturday afternoon, when Shaker senior Madison Braman qualified for the state team with a two-day total of 155 -- which tied her for third place.

Braman will head to Cornell in June, looking to bring home the state crown.
