SAN ANTONIO - A man putting out the trash on Tuesday morning came face-to-face with an alligator on the city's Southeast Side.

Animal Care Services rushed in and used fencing material to box in the 5-foot gator at the home along Rosalind Way, near Rigsby Avenue and South Foster Road.

It's estimated to be about 4-years-old.

A reptile animal care specialist from Animal World and Snake Farm Zoo was also called to remove the alligator.

Last month, a much larger alligator, 10-feet-long and estimated to be decades old, wandered into another yard in Southeast Bexar County, closer to Calaveras Lake. That animal was monitored until it returned to the lake on its own.
