Before last season, Jason Bell had never put on a professional baseball uniform.
The former St. Louis University and Central Missouri right-hander stayed in the college game after graduating, serving as both a pitching coach and director of baseball operations.
Then, the Astros came calling.
Bell spent the 2017 season as a development coach with Houston's class-A affiliate, Quad Cities.
After just one year, he got the call to manage a team of his own.
The 27-year-old will be the youngest manager in ValleyCats' history when the team opens at home against Vermont.
