ALBANY, NY (WRGB) -- UAlbany made history today, facing off against Maryland at Casey Stadium.

The No. 3 Terrapins are the highest-ranked opponent UAlbany has ever hosted, though the Great Danes aren't far behind, coming in at No. 5.

Scott Marr spent six seasons on the Maryland staff as an assistant before becoming the first, and only head coach in UAlbany's Division I history.

Today, his Great Danes were trying to prove they have what it takes to be a national contender.

In a back-and-forth affair, the nation's leading scorer Connor Fields recorded eight points, but it wasn't quite enough as the Terps escape Albany with the 12-11 win.
