Typically, people who throw out the first pitch at baseball games are former players, politicians or other public figures. On Wednesday night, a hero threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Aedan Conway of Delmar was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, which has required three open heart surgeries. The 9-year-old ballplayer, who loves to pitch, ran onto the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium diamond in front of other members of the Cardiac Kids 518. Aedan fired in a throw to the ValleyCats catcher before spending in-person time with the Cardiac Kids for the first time since February 2020.
